AERC/ComCycle
The standards defined in the R2 and RIOS Certification Programs are a much needed first step in the electronics recycling industry. AERC stands out as the first company in the industry which now combines the rigorous permitting process under the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) for Hazardous Waste handling and processing as well as meeting the standards set by the R2 and RIOS Certification Programs. AERC has been permitted for almost two decades for the safe and best available technology for mercury recycling and recovery. Many electronic devices (such as laptops, cell phones, and other consumer electronics) currently in the marketplace contain mercury. As AERC Recycling Solutions celebrates twenty years of environmental service in 2010, I am very pleased to see AERC distinguished as one of the first electronics recycling company that is a Certified Electronics Recycler®.
